Meet James
I was born on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii to Nick, a general contractor and carpenter who built our house, and Amy Denzer, a teacher at Haleiwa Elementary School. My younger siblings, Robinson and Maria, are both pursuing careers in dance.
I made my stage debut with a reenactment of the children’s book "The Gunniwolf" at Waialua Elementary School’s storytelling competition. I won first place and was invited to reenact my reenactment at the public library. I've been hooked on storytelling ever since.
My most precious days have been spent with sea life. In high school, I became quite comfortable in the open ocean: snorkeling with dolphins, scuba-diving with monk seals, and kayaking with humpback whales.
Since moving to New York City five years ago, I’ve spent many a long weekend journeying upstate in search of waterfallsーTaughannock Falls in Ithaca being my favorite so far.
I graduated with the third ensemble of the Tom Todoroff Conservatory where I developed a penchant for Shakespeare and classical theatre. I continued my Shakespeare studies in Oxford, England with the British American Drama Academy, in association with the Yale School of Drama.
Major credits since graduation include leading roles in three world premiere plays in NYC, an award-winning music video, a national tour, and several featured roles on television. See me in the upcoming feature film “Laff in the Dark.”
